After School Program at the Jackson Mann
The Jackson Mann Community Center offers high quality and affordable after school programming for children of all abilities, ages 5.5 (K2 grade level) to 12 years old. Children with a higher level of need are welcomed until the age of 16 years old. Our after school hours are from 1:30PM - 6:00PM. We are an EEC licensed program and operate all 52 weeks of the year.
School vacation weeks and snow day hours are from 8:00AM-6:00PM. Programming includes homework assistance, reading assistance, and tutoring facilitated by Program Group Leaders and volunteers from Boston University, Boston College, and ThinkSmart Boston. At the Jackson Mann, we place heavy emphasis on holistic learning in children. As an after school program our goal is to be a comprehensive program that complements the work that occurs during the academic day. We strive to create close knit relationships with parents and teachers to ensure the academic as well socio-emotional success of each child. To reach our goals, we offer a series of activities involving music, dance, theatre, arts and crafts, STEM, computer competency, coding, physical education, yoga, and many other recreational activities both on-site and off-site. We also partner with many local agencies to provide programming for our children like “E” inc., HATCHAmerica Coding, Bosoma Dance, ThinkSmart, WGBH, Allied Global Marketing, and other community neighbors. To ensure cost is not the deciding factor in a family’s ability to join the Jackson Mann Community Center family, we accept vouchers and also have a limited amount of income eligible slots available.
If the JMCC sounds like the perfect place for your child, you are more than welcome to visit the site and request further information from the program’s manager, Maria Tempesta.
